Oleksandr Usyk is considering a return to cruiserweight, according to his team’s Serhii Lapin. In comments published by Sky Sports on 31 October, Lapin described the move as another challenge after Usyk’s heavyweight achievements.
The prospect gives a different direction to discussions of Usyk’s 2027 return. Another undisputed run would require navigating the cruiserweight title picture, including David Benavidez.
It remains a team plan. Our 1 November edition did not announce an opponent or date for Usyk’s first fight back.
