Deontay Wilder against Jai Opetaia is under discussion for 11 December 2026 in Cardiff. It is not yet a confirmed bout in the reporting checked for this update.
Speaking to Sky Sports in a report published on 10 October, Dana White said his team was working on the matchup for the Tyson Fury–Anthony Joshua undercard at the Principality Stadium.
The attraction is clear: a leading cruiserweight testing himself against a former heavyweight champion whose right hand remains the central threat. White also identified David Benavidez as Opetaia’s longer-term target at cruiserweight.
For now, the distinction matters. The Cardiff main event has a date; Wilder–Opetaia has public discussion from a promoter. Those are different stages of making a fight. We will treat the undercard matchup as negotiations until an official announcement confirms it.
